Requirements:

• Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical school or Miltary equivalent
• 3 years experience in high voltage transmission, generation and distribution.

 NOTE: High School grads also considered with more than 5 years of high voltage testing and relay maintenance

Job Duties:

Review elementary one line diagrams and control wiring diagrams Perform wire check out and point to point wire tests Perform relay commissioning on solid state utility relays. Verify solid state relay wiring and configuration Troubleshoot solid state relay system. Verify overall utility relay protection scheme matches original elementary protectiuon scheme design Verify circuit integrity by applying Ac or DC current and simulating system functions. Experience with 3 phase relay test sets ( Megger, Pulsar, Manta or Doble). Perform testing on line traps Experience with the following manufacturers relays: GE, ABB or Schweitzer Engineering labs utility relays.

Comments:

This job is extremely hot. Very quick turnaround on qualified candidates. The salary is supplemented by overtime both straight time and double OT because this person will be on call. The average Relay Technician earns 100 to 120K a year. Travel is within the state of Indiana and Illinois but will be based out of Indy. I can take somebody out of a utility ( like Duke Energy ) who will hold the title of substation test technician or a journeyman lineman with strong high voltage testing back ground as well. Persons from the Military are acceptable - particularly those who have experience in high voltage generation, distribution and transmission.
