Requirements:
- BS (or higher) degree in
Welding Engineering or equivalent education,
training and/or experience.
- At least 3 years
experience in Oil and Gas, offshore best. Auto
& trucks will not work
- Hands-on experience with
GMAW, GTAW and SAW of carbon and low alloy
steels, preferably in the energy or power
generation industries.
- Hands-on experience with
arc data monitoring systems.
- Ability to set the
appropriate value for each variable in a
welding procedure to ensure that the resulting
weld complies with project requirements.
- Considerable knowledge
of applicable AWS, ASME and API welding codes
and specifications.
- Good knowledge of
magnetic particle, liquid penetrants,
radiographic and ultrasonic inspection
techniques.
- Ability to work on
ad-hoc teams within a fast-paced manufacturing
environment
Job Duties:
Will provide technical
expertise and oversight to the welding operations
associated with the manufacture and testing of
OSI’s FlexJoint and elastomeric bearing products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create a dedicated weld
shop for fatigue-critical SCR FlexJoint
welding.
- Optimize processes and
equipment layout.
- Install and ensure
proper function of all equipment.
- Recommend additional
equipment and/or equipment modifications that
may be required.
- Develop and qualify
welding procedures.
- Provide technical
direction and oversight for fabrication of
fatigue specimen welds and production welds.
- Analyze and correct
technical problems that arise during welding
procedure qualification and/or during fatigue
specimen/production welding.
- Arrange for and monitor
all necessary mechanical testing and
nondestructive inspection.
- Arrange for the proper
storage and handling of the various welding
consumables involved with OSI’s FlexJoint
welding business.
- Prepare and issue
supporting documentation such as WPS and PQR
documents, welder qualification records and
project procedures. Participate in the
preparation of quality plans and welding data
books.
- Review and comment on
customer welding specifications. Help develop
OSI quotations for welding work scopes.
- Meet with customer
representatives as required.
